“The first automobile to visit Fayette made its appearance last Saturday and was
quite an attraction. Perry Lewis of St. Louis, and John Jackson of Glasgow, steered
the machine over from Glasgow. It belongs to Mr. Lewis, and is propelled by gasoline. It can run
16 miles per hour and seems easily handled.
